Mt. Psunj is a mountain in the southwestern Slavonia region in eastern Croatia. It is the highest mountain of Slavonia, with the highest peak of Brezovo polje at 984 m.a.s.l. In the north it extends to Ravna gora and Papuk, while otherwise it is surrounded by lowlands. It is located north of Nova Gradiška and southeast of Pakrac.

Since Psunj is partly protected by the international eco network Natura 2000, many habitats and present species of flora and fauna are strictly protected.

Most of the forest areas is managed by the Bjelovar and Nova Gradiška forest administration branches of a state-owned company Croatian Forests Ltd and we consider them responsible for the devastation, but also the serious destabilization of the biodiversity of the area.

According to the reports of our activists during 2019, we visited Psunj several times, recorded numerous devastations, and the analysis of satellite programs established the total observed devastation from 2009 to 2019 is 2,049 ha (20,490,000 m2).

Since deforestation continued after 2019, we visited Psunj again in 2021 and established 36 new deforestation fields, with a total area of approx 500 ha, which together with the deforestation from 2009 to 2019 amounts to a total of 2,549 ha (for comparison it is about 5,098 football fields!)
