From the very beginning of our activities in 2018, the media have shown great interest in our fight to save forests in the Republic of Croatia.
Although we have always emphasized in public and in the media that our entire “story” about forest devastation and its perpetrators is based exclusively on official documents from the state company Croatian Forests Ltd (Hrvatske šume d.o.o.), competent ministries, state agencies and inspectorates, etc., always and without exception Croatian Forests Ltd routinely deny all our statements on all media articles about us and laconically ignore all the evidence:
“Statements of the Green Squad and criticism of the operations of Croatian Forests Ltd are false, unfounded and malicious.
By presenting inaccurate data, the public is deceived to the detriment of the Croatian Forests Society, which performs its forest management task properly, professionally and in accordance with economic plans, respecting strict environmental, social and economic standards.
The tradition of organized forest management in Croatia is more than two and a half centuries old, and the result is preserved and natural forests in almost half of the territory of the Republic of Croatia. “
After the announcement about us, many media representatives were forced to publish the now famous “it’s not true!” denial under the threat of a lawsuit, and against several of the strongest portals and TV companies Croatian Forests Ltd filed lawsuits nevertheless.
Pressure from the state company Croatian Forests Ltd to the media is more than an obvious example of an attempt to conceal a crime from the public eye. Consequently, the transmission of anything related to our struggle, especially open support, in the media in the Republic of Croatia is becoming a real rarity.
